Welcome and thank you for the opportunity to share a little bit about myself. I am a licensed psychologist and a licensed marriage and family therapist working primarily with children, adolescents, young adults, and their families. I currently have an independent practice in Westlake Hills and am the executive director of Tejas Family Guidance Center (www.tejasfamilyguidancecenter.org) a nonprofit, outpatient mental health agency dedicated to providing quality mental health services to individuals and families. In addition, I hold an adjunct faculty position at UT, teaching the Ethic Course and Practicum Seminar for the Counseling Psychology Program. I also provide services in Spanish. My goal is to provide you with the tools and skills necessary for the growth and progress you and/or your family hope to experience. My approach is primarily based on a collaborative and systemic model that heavily incorporates the developmental level of the individual and/or family. I also incorporate solution-focused and cognitive-behavioral models in my work. I received my doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin and completed my predoctoral training at Harvard Medical School/Boston Children’s Hospital in Boston, MA. I have a master’s degree in Marriage and Family from the University of Houston-Clear Lake and a master’s degree in Program Evaluation from UT at Austin. I have been involved in the mental health field in various roles since 1993. In addition to several other publications, I have co-authored and published a group therapy game for children and adolescents as well as co-authored a chapter in a book about parent-child relationships. I have been featured in Austin Family Magazine and American Baby Magazine. I have made several professional presentations regarding working with children and families. I am currently a board member of the Texas Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
